I Am the Eye in the Sky?
By way of Slashdot, I stumbled across the following use of geospatial technology in municipal code enforcement...
It goes without saying (although I'm still saying it here) that I'm all for incorporating geospatial techologies into government workflows, not to mention fair and equitable enforcement and application of codes and laws. Geospatial technologies certainly play an already large, and increasing, role in enforcing codes and laws. Still, I'm not sure the old adage about there being no such thing as bad press is quite right here. I certainly wouldn't want my agency's GIS efforts to receive this kind of publicity when the use of geospatial technologies in local government results in many good things that enhance civic life.
No matter what, I have a hunch the 'Eye in the Sky' qualities of this story would do Alan Parsons and his bandmates proud.
